Danica Patrick’s icy stare to Jay Mohr said it all after Mohr tossed some zingers her way during the NASCAR awards show Friday night. Danica’s exposure during the 2013 Spring Cup season seemed overdone considering the struggle through her rookie year. Mohr used some of those short-comings as ammunition in his comedy routine, suggests Sporting News NASCAR on Dec. 7.
Danica won the pole for the Daytona 500 but there was a constant undercurrent of debate among NASCAR fans on whether the attention she was granted was deserved. This attention gave Mohr the material he needed to send those zingers her way as the master of ceremonies for the NASCAR Awards in Las Vegas.
Patrick was seated on the stage as she was in the running for a Sprint fan award, which she did win. This pretty much left the first female to run a full Cup season as a sitting duck for the comedian’s wit. Mohr said to Danica:
"Danica, I hope you are not too uncomfortable tonight — I know you're not used to being this close to the front.”
Danica’s boyfriend Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was also part of the open season for quips that Mohr embarked on. He wasn’t about to let that relationship go unscathed now that he had both of them in his sights. He said to Stenhouse:
"Ricky knows what we all know — sometimes the guy has to step aside and let the woman lead … just ask Kevin Harvick.”
