On Thursday, Danica Patrick stated that she will not be a participant in the 2013 Indy 500. However, she didn't say that she wouldn't be competing in any future ones. She stated that her reason for not participating in this year's Indy 500 was because she wants to focus on her full-time season and Cup ranks, says ESPN.
She gave the following statement,
“I can confirm to you today that I will not be doing the Indy 500. I am just going to do the Coke 600. The team and I decided to focus on Cup. It’s going to be plenty of work as it is. It’s going to be important for me running for the championship full-time for the first time to really keep myself focused with the Cup car. But if I do the Indy 500 moving forward it will be with GoDaddy.”
Last year, Patrick also skipped the Indy 500 and instead ran in the Coca-Cola 600, which is what she plans on doing this year as well. During her announcement, she also said that she is attempting to run a partial Nationwide Series season and has been talking with Turner Scott Motorsports, though nothing is final as of yet.
