CBS has yet another controversy to deal with regarding a potential Super Bowl ad.
The network's plan to show a Tim Tebow ad from Focus on the Family has been widely publicized and debated, as has their indecision whether or not to air an ad from a gay dating site. Now the controversy involves one of the Danica Patrick commercials website company Go Daddy was planning to run.
The ad in question involves a former NFL player who embarks on a post-football career of lingerie design, promoting his clothing through a Go Daddy website. Narrated by Danica Patrick, the commercial does not feature anything more risque than what has aired in other Super Bowl ads, but as described by Go Daddy CEO Bob Parsons in a press release, it stars Lola, a "big, flamboyant, effeminate, lovable man."
In the press release, Parsons expressed his surprise that this particular ad was not approved by CBS, saying, "Of the five commercial concepts we submitted for approval this year, this NEVER would’ve been my pick for the one that would not be approved. This is about a guy who starts an online business and hits the jackpot. I just don’t think “Lola” is offensive, in fact we didn’t see this one coming – we were absolutely blindsided!"

I see absolutely nothing wrong with that ad.....except for the lack of scantly clad ladies
CBS should focus on its target-market when approving the advertisement for the Superbowl. "Prudish people" (includes men and women) generally don't watch the big game. Those that do watch are more tolerant of the risque factor, have a sense of humor and only object when the ads aren't family-friendly enough.
I'd have no problem allowing my kids to see this ad. They'd laugh.
Maybe they didn't accept that ad because it was boring, and they just zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
50 and 60 year olds cavorting in hot tubs giving each other visual foreplay for Cialis ads is soooooooo much better. Maybe the NFL didn't want to start speculation that any of their former linemen are flamboyant lingerie designers
