Danica Patrick is usually tight lipped when it comes to her personal life. However, this time in her life she is opening up. Patrick admitted that she is dating a fellow driver. Danica made it public to 'The Associated Press' on Jan. 25 that she and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. are a couple. This ends the widespread rumors flying around about their relationship.
Patrick and Stenhouse both race against each other in the Nationwide Series and they started out as friends that lasted the last two seasons. The couple waited until after Charlotte Motor Speedway's weeklong annual media tour to go public with their news. After the 2011 season, Danica left Indycar to make a full-time switch to NASCAR and Stenhouse became an advisor of sorts to her.
"We are dating, and I know there's been a bit of a runaround this week at the media days and poor Ricky got grilled (with questions)," she stated. "It was out of respect to NASCAR, to all the manufacturers, the new cars, the teams, the sponsors, just to allow the news of the day to be about racing and not let anything interfere with that. So, it's Friday now, so that's why we waited until the end of the week to be up front about each other."
Danica, 30, announced that she and her husband Paul Hospenthal were divorcing after seven years in November. The filing Jan. 3 stated that her marriage to the 47-year-old Hospenthal was "irretrievably broken." The gossip immediately began about her possible relationship to 25-year-old Stenhouse, who has never been married. Even though Patrick has never really talked about her personal life publicly, she did this time in order to stop the gossip so that the two of them could be open in regards to their relationship.
