Dangerously cold temperatures across northern Ohio through mid week

Arctic high pressure will build across northern Ohio today. Snow showers this morning will diminish with skies becoming partly sunny. A few snow showers could linger across the snow belt this afternoon. Temperatures will fall through the day with wind chills remaining well below zero. Winds will also be gusty today with areas of blowing snow persisting.

High pressure will dominate through mid week. It will be very cold with dangerously cold wind chills expected tonight through Tuesday night. Temperatures will begin to moderate by Wednesday.

Here is the forecast: For today, partly sunny with a chance of snow showers along with areas of blowing snow. Temperatures will fall to around 5 degrees by late this afternoon. Winds W 15-25 mph. Wind chills -5 to -15.

Tonight, partly cloudy with lows -8 to -14. Winds W 10-15 mph. Wind chills -25 to -35.

Tuesday, partly sunny with highs around 0. Winds SW 10-15 mph. Wind chills -20 to -35.

Tuesday night, partly cloudy with lows -9 to -15.

Wednesday, partly sunny with highs around 10.

Looking ahead: Temperatures will continue to moderate through the end of the week. A weak system will bring a chance of snow to the region Thursday and Thursday night. Highs on Thursday will be in the mid 20s with lows Thursday night in the upper teens.

Friday will be mostly cloudy with highs in the mid 20s.

Friday night and Saturday, a stronger storm will approach from the southwest bringing the threat of snow. Lows Friday night will be in the teens with highs on Saturday near 30 degrees.
