Dandy Boy was supplemented for the Darley July Cup at Newmarket. The Group 1 horse race will take place on Saturday, July 14. The David Marnane-trained sprinter last won the Wokingham at Royal Ascot.
“He's been a phenomenal horse for us and to win a third big handicap like that in the manner he did shows what a good horse he is on his day. He's a fragile horse and when they are right and well you have to take your chance,” Marnane told attheraces.com.
Betting tipsters will also have a keen eye on the Richard Hannon-trained Strong Suit. Strong Suit was also supplemented for the six furlongs event. Punters may consider that the horse placed second behind Dream Ahead in the Middle Park Stakes as a two-year-old.
Bated Breath is currently rated 125 by Timeform which currently heads the market for the July Cup at 4.3. Society Rock and Strong Suit are also prominent in early betting odds, according to Betfair.
In other races, Secret Witness will return to York after finishing fourth in a Group 3 sprint at the Curragh. Trainer Ron Harris' sprinter won a race and placed second at the Curragh in May. The second place finish was due to a penalty to stablemate Judge’n Jury.
