Monday night on “Dancing With the Stars” fans got a bit of a shocker when it came to the elimination. Perhaps even more shocked was the couple themselves, who had a great performance and seemed fairly confident they were staying. What went down in the Oct. 14 show of “DWTS”?
This episode featured the celebrities dancing to recognize their most memorable year. There were a lot of strong performances, and at the end of the night Corbin and Christina were tied for first place with 28 points. Jack, Snooki and Brant all tied with 27 points, then Amber and Elizabeth scored 26 points. Bill was next with 24, and Leah was last with 22 points.
As the couples were told they were safe, the last three to get safety were Elizabeth and Val, Christina and Mark, and Leah and Tony. Then, Elizabeth Berkley and Val Chmerkovskiy were told they were safe. At this point, it's pretty safe to assume most expected Leah Remini and Tony Dovolani to be eliminated, and they themselves seemed braced for it. However, instead it was Christina Milian and Mark Ballas who were sent packing. Even with a top score of the night, their fan votes were insufficient to pull them through to dance another week.
Some “Dancing With the Stars” fans would say that the issue with Christina and Mark wasn't ability, but rather likely a problem connecting both with one another and with the viewers. They just didn't seem to develop a spark like some other pairs have this season. Some like Bill and Snooki have surprised many with their ability to get laughs and entertain, plus they're working hard to stick around. Some would say Christina and Mark just didn't stand out.
Now it's down to the top eight couples this season on “DWTS,” and there are no obvious eliminations at this point so every vote counts. What did you think of the performances Monday night? Were you surprised to see Christina Milian and Mark Ballas eliminated?
