This was the second performance show and first elimination on “Dancing with the Stars” Monday night. The show was riding high with a pro dancer, Derek Hough, winning his first Emmy the night before. It was all Latin dances that included the popular paso doble and a non-Latin American based dance, the jive. Corbin Bleu, Elizabeth Berkley Lauren, and Christina Milian received the highest scores for their sizzling Latin routines. “High School Musical” star Corbin Bleu paid homage to his school day roots with a show-stopping jive. Last week belonged to “Glee’s” Amber Riley, this week it was Corbin.
Of course many viewers were waiting on the micro-mini results segment at the end. The elimination itself was somewhat shocking. Tampa Bay viewers may remember Keyshawn Johnson as a Buccaneer during the team’s Super Bowl victory in 2003. The NFL wide receiver received one of the lowest scores last week. For the first time on “Dancing with the Stars” a NFL player was eliminated in its first week. Unfortunately Johnson’s attitude, with his pro dance partner during rehearsals, wasn’t a very good first impression.
Next week’s theme will be a tribute to Hollywood.
