The pros talk about new DWTS season and summer travels. ABC.
The big cast announcement for the new season of Dancing With the Stars is a little more than two weeks away, and the dance pros have been lighting up twitter with talk about the new season and their summer travels. With rehearsals set to begin very soon, it’s no wonder that the professional dancers are getting in their last minute getaways. Here’s what they’ve been up to this summer and what they’re talking about on Twitter:
- Louis Van Amstel: Louis is currently in Amsterdam visiting family and friends. Concerning the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars, here’s what he had to say: “It's kinda weird. For this DWTS season I haven't heard any rumors of celebs who might be on. That might be because I've been traveling so much! I know we all love to find out early, but it's more fun to just be surprised Aug. 30. In the early seasons I'd think and think who would I have or even if I'd be on. It would always be different than I thought, so I gave up. I'll just wait until I find out.”
- Cheryl Burke: This popular pro has busy with her Cheryl Burke Dance events with Wendy Johnson. She recently took a trip to Buenos Aires.
- Anna Trebunskaya: Anna has been busy packing for her trip to Halifax and recently tweeted this message to her followers: “Time to pack: Going to Hallifax, NS and Detroit for BWAT show. Hope to see some of you there.”
- Damian Whitewood: This dancer who was new to DWTS last season just celebrated a birthday this week. His down time this summer included a road trip to cruise the California coast.
- Maksim Chmerkovskiy: Maks was back in the news this summer because he choreographed Chelsea Clinton’s first dance. He also made a You Tube video thanking his fans for their continued support.
- Chelsie Hightower: Chelsie is currently competing against Kathy Ireland and Bobbie Thomas to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
- Tony Dovolani: Kate Gosselin’s past partner took part in a Celebrity Dance Camp, and then went home to relax. His summer also involved a pre-Espy party at the Playboy Mansion.
- Edyta Slwinska: Edyta performed with her husband Alec Mazo at Mohegan Sun for the Reality Check event.
- Carrie Ann Inaba: The popular judge appeared on Housecat Housecall on Animal Planet. She is currently preparing for the Emmy Awards and wondering what to wear. She sent out the following tweet recently: “Did you dance today? Get your bootie on the dance floor... Make my day. Make my day!”
- Brooke Burke: DWTS's newest host and her family took a two-week European family vacation and left the following message on modernmoms.com: “14 sleepless nights, 12 airports and one magical vacay.”
The new cast of Dancing With the Stars will be announced on the August 30th episode of Bachelor Pad that airs at 10/9c on ABC. Latest cast rumors include Mike “The Situation” from Jersey Shore, Landon Donovan, Ali Fefotowsky and Roberto Martinez from The Bachelorette, Ryan O’Neal, Troy Aikman, Kurt Warner.
Season 11 of Dancing With the Stars premieres on Monday, September 20th at 8/7c on ABC.

Always look forward to a new season of Dancing with the Stars. It is one of the most entertaining shows on television today.
I'm excited to see who will be on DWTS this season. It is always fun to see the celebrities develop their dancing skills on the stage with the professionals. This is great and wish the show was beginning tonight.
the professional dancers have helped bring this sport to the mainstream. their efforts may help to inspire others to take up ballroom dancing.
Dancing with the Stars is my all-time favorite. I wish they would put out the previous seasons on DVD so I can enjoy them over and over.
It is hard to fathom that DWTS would put Mike "the situation" from Jersey Shore on the show. I guess his popularity make bring new people to watch the show.
DWTS is much better than that all singing show that airs at roughly the same time as DWTS that y'all beat in the ratings last season! Keep up the great work!
I must be honest, I didn't care for Brooke as the co host. Need someone there that knows how to interview! Sorry Brooke.
