It looks like Ricky Martin is excited about his appearance on week 7 of season 18 of “Dancing with the Stars.” The singer tweeted about it on April 26 on his Twitter account. ABC tapped him to pull double duty on the show as both a guest judge and a performer for their annual “Latin Night” episode.
Martin will open the show with a jaw–dropping performance of his 2014 World Cup song “Vida.” Naturally, the “DWTS” pro dancers will accompany him. After that, he will take a seat at the judges’ table where he will join Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba and assume his duties as a guest judge. Other guest judges this season have included Robin Roberts, Julianne Hough and Donny Osmond.
Martin joins the show for “Latin Night,” an episode that will force the competitors to perform Latin dance styles only. For this season, each couple will perform their individual dance routine set to music with a Latin theme. Then there will be two Latin-inspired team dances.
Latin dances are typically the samba, rumba, tango, salsa, paso doble or Argentine tango. Form the description, it sounds like the routines might be loosely based on these traditional dances.
In other “Dancing with the Stars” news, fan favorite Danica McKellar broke a rib in Friday’s rehearsal. She also shared the news via Twitter and updated her status with a retweet from her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy today, saying 1 broken rib, 2 new dances and 3 days of missed rehearsal. This doesn’t bode well for her performance on Monday night’s show.
At some point during the show, one couple will be eliminated as a result of last week’s judge’s scores and fan votes. There have already been some surprising eliminations and it appears no one is safe. What are you looking forward to most about week 7 of “Dancing with Stars”? Is it the Latin music, the Latin dances or getting to see Ricky Martin as a performer and guest judge? “Dancing with the Stars” airs on Mondays on ABC at 7 p.m.
