All of the "Dancing with the Stars" celebrities were safe last week as the nine remaining couples switched partners, however changing the game proved to be too costly for Cody Simpson who was sent home on Monday night’s episode.
Julianne Hough guest-judged for last week’s switch-a-sode, however her eyebrows were not well received by the beauty experts. The scores from the switch up were combined with the prior week’s, which placed NeNe Leakes, Candace Cameron Bure and Cody Simpson in jeopardy during this Monday’s “Disney Night.”
Last week partners were shuffled and the stars were repaired to Candace Cameron Bure and Tony Dovolani, Amy Purdy and Mark Ballas, James Maslow and Cheryl Burke, Charlie White and Peta Murgatroyd, Drew Carey and Witney Carson, Danica McKellar and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Cody Simpson and Sharna Burgess, NeNe Leakes and Derek Hough, and Meryl Davis and Valentin Chmerkovskiy.
This week’s DWTS production was a Disney extravaganza, not a surprise, as ABC is a Disney-owned network. The couples were reunited with original partners in what Tom Bergeron labeled a “conscious recoupling” to dance to the music of Walt Disney films, with interjections of animation, therefore the judges weren’t as strict.
Guest judge Donny Osmond, a former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant and season nine champion, provided the “performance scores.” A DWTS recap follows, from highest to lowest, but alas, scores weren’t enough to have Cody Simpson return next week.
James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd danced contemporary to “Frozen,” which with the animated effects happened to be this writer’s favorite of the night, and received a perfect 40, the first of season 18.
Danica McKellar and Valentin Chmerkovskiy performed the quick step to “Beauty and the Beast” and garnered a high 39.
Charlie White and Sharna Burgess Jazzed it up to “Marry Poppins” and received a 37, with Len’s first 10 of the season.
Amy Purdy and Derek Hough danced a “Cinderella” waltz for 37 points.
NeNe Leakes and Tony Dovolani danced a fox trot to “101 Dalmatians” and earned a 36.
Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy sambaed to “Jungle Book” for a total of 36.
Candace Cameron Bure and Mark Ballas danced an underwater samba to the backdrop of “The Little Mermaid” and earned a 35.
Cody Simpson and Witny Carson danced the samba to the “Lion King” for a score of 34.
Drew Carey and Cheryl Burke danced the quickstep to “Aladdin” and earned a 28.
"Dancing with the Stars' Disney Night" proved to bring out the child in us all. DWTS returns next Monday without Cody Simpson as the remaining eight vie for the mirror ball.
