Chuck Liddell has been known to "knockout" opponents in the sports world, but will this tough guy's Mixed Martial Arts skills help him "takedown" the competition on the dance floor?
Chuck Liddell is the face of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and an icon of Mixed Martial Arts—the fastest growing sport in America. He won his first UFC Mixed Martial Arts fight in 1998 and quickly rose through the ranks to become the light-heavyweight champion of the world.
Chuck is tied for the most wins by a UFC fighter with 16, and also holds the most knockout wins with 10. So, we weren't surprised to hear that he was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in July of 2009.
If you think he's all about action, think again. Chuck also has the "write" stuff, as he penned his autobiography, Iceman: My Fighting Life, which quickly became a New York Times Bestseller.
Chuck’s partner is Anna Trebunskaya, a native of Russia, who has been dancing ever since she was six years old. Anna moved to the U.S. with her parents in 1998 when she was 17. Both mom and dad were professional ballroom dancers, and her mother still makes her costumes today.
In Season 2 of “Dancing with the Stars,” Anna paired with football great Jerry Rice to make the finals, and ultimately a second place finish. In Season Five, she paired with model Albert Reed and in Season 6 she danced with actor/funnyman Steve Guttenberg.
The ninth season of “Dancing with the Stars” premieres September 21st on ABC.
