"Dancing with the Stars" season 17 premieres Sept. 16 on ABC with an all-new cast of celebrity mirror ball trophy hopefuls. Although the lineup won't be officially announced until the Sept. 4 edition of "Good Morning America," an Aug. 28 tweet by spoiler source DWTSGossip completed a list of the 12 professional dancers expected to take part in the new season.
The tweet represented an about-face regarding the status of Gleb Savchenko, who was previously reported to be sitting out the fall 2013 season. The talented dancer made his "DWTS" debut alongside "Real Housewife" Lisa Vanderpump during season 16.
The other male dancers expected to return to the ballroom include Derek Hough, Mark Ballas, Tristan MacManus, Val Chmerkovskiy and Tony Dovolani. Hough won the spring 2013 season with "American Idol" alum turned country music star Kellie Pickler.
The ladies allegedly primed to dance for the trophy include Karina Smirnoff, Cheryl Burke, Lindsay Arnold, Sharna Burgess, Peta Murgatroyd and Emma Slater. Former "DWTS" troupe member Slater is the sole new professional of the fall 2013 season.
In addition to news about the professional dancers, Aug. 28 also ushered in a flurry of rumors regarding the celebrity cast members. Stars allegedly taking part in season 17 include "Saved by the Bell" alum Elizabeth Berkley, actresses Leah Remini and Valerie Harper, "Jersey Shore" star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, "The Voice" social media correspondent and singer Christina Milian, "Glee" star Amber Riley, NFL star Keyshawn Johnson, "Teen Mom" Farrah Abraham, reality star Jack Osbourne, boy bander J.C. Chasez and "High School Musical" star Corbin Bleu.
The primary problem with the supposed cast list is that seven women are listed, but only six male pro dancers are taking part in season 17. "DWTS" has yet to allow a same-sex couple to compete.
To see which professional coach will dance with which celebrity cast member, tune in to "Good Morning America" on Sept. 4 for the official "Dancing with the Stars" season 17 lineup reveal.
