This morning on “Good Morning America,” “Dancing with the Stars” announced its latest round of celebrities to hit the dance floor. Rumors have been swirling for a bit, with such names as Valerie Harper, Elizabeth Berkley and “Jersey Shores” Snooki on the list of possible stars. Well, it turns out some of the rumors were true. Here is the list of stars, along with the pro partners they will be matched up with:
Elizabeth Berkley and Val Chmerkovskiy
Corbin Bleu and Karina Smirnoff
Brant Daugherty and Peta Murgatroyd
Bill Engvall and Emma Slater
Valerie Harper and Tristan MacManus
Keyshawn Johnson and Sharna Burgess
Christina Milian and Mark Ballas
Bill Nye and Tyne Stecklein
Jack Osbourne and Cheryl Burke
Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi and Sasha Farber
Leah Remini and Tony Dovolani
Amber Riley and Derek Hough
Now, it may be a bit early, but why not have some fun and dissect who the early front-runners might be.
An obvious choice, if only because Bleu has a dance background thanks to “High School Musical.” But Ballroom is a different beast, and as many Disney stars have found out in past seasons.
Riley has a few things going for her. One, she works on “Glee,” which means she is used to learning choreography and practicing it regularly. Two, she has four time champ Derek Hough as her partner. If she brings the same spunk she does to her “Glee” character, she will certainly go far.
All “Showgirl” jokes aside, Berkley has shown that she can move and pick up choreography. She also has a great partner in Val, and together they might have the drive to make it to the finals.
Hip Hop dancers have fared rather well in the competition, and it is usually due to the pros they have. Milian is paired up with Mark Ballas, so we know he will play up to her strengths.
