After all the Oscars recap and red carpet analysis shows, it's time for “Dancing with the Stars” to announce a new celebrity cast, along with their professional dance partners. On Tuesday morning ABC’s Good Morning America revealed season 16’s array of athletes, singers, actors, comedians, and a reality star. Bright House Networks subscribers in Tampa Bay saw it on WFTS, channel 11. This cast proves to be a safer choice and more mainstream than in the past. Mark your calendar for March 18 for the season premiere. Here’s an introduction to the 11 wannabe ballroom dancers, along with the pros.
Jacoby Jones - Karina Smirnoff: From the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens and the Super Bowl XLVII champs, #12 is best known for his 108-yard kickoff return. Jones is the current record holder for the longest touchdown.
Aly Raisman - Mark Ballas: A member of the “Fierce Five” gymnastics team at the 2012 London Olympics. Team USA won its first gold medal since 1996. Raisman was the first American gymnast to win gold in the floor exercises.
Kellie Pickler - Derek Hough: During season five of “American Idol” Pickler came in sixth. Since then she’s carved out a successful career in country music.
Wynnona Judd - Toni Dovolani: Best known for being part of the mother/daughter duet, The Judds. Now as a solo artist Wynonna garnered 20 #1 hits and countless country music awards.
Dorothy Hamill - Tristan McManus: Not only is she best known as an Olympic gold medalist figure skating icon, but for generating a popular hairstyle. Her famous short wedge haircut became the rage in the 1970s.
Andy Dick - Sharna Burgess: Hailing from Chicago Andy Dick is a comedian, actor, musician, writer, producer and director. He may even come to a comedy club or theater near you.
D. L. Hughley - Cheryl Burke: Season 16 is sure to be a load of laughs when this stand-up comedian gets on the dance floor. Hughley appears frequently on late night talk shows and his own comedy specials.
Lisa Vanderpump - Gleb Savchenko: Formerly from “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” this reality star showcases her restaurateur skills. Vanderpump has a reality TV show focusing on her West Hollywood restaurant.
Victor Ortiz - Lindsay Arnold: This former welterweight champion is known in the ring as “Vicious.” When he’s not wearing boxing gloves, Ortiz loves to flash his warm smile at charitable events.
Zendaya Coleman - Valentin Chmerkovskiy: “Dancing with the Stars” would not be complete without a Disney Channel star for its younger viewers. This season it delivers. Zendaya is best known as Raquel “Rocky” Blue on “Shake It Up.” She’s multi-talented and someone to watch out for this season.
Ingo Rademacher - Kym Johnson: Last but never least here's “General Hospital’s” daytime star, Jasper “Jax” Jacks. Rademacher has been on the long-running soap since 1996.
