'Dancing with the Stars' season 11 cast revealed: Bristol Palin, The Situation to compete (PHOTOS)

The new cast of "DWTS" was revealed Mon. night during an episode of ABC's "Bachelor Pad," in which hosts Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke announced the female celebrities first, then the men shortly after. Among the 12 celebs competing are a few that were expected, with others coming as more of a surprise.

As previously rumored and all but confirmed, Bristol Palin will be competing, along with "Jersey Shore's" Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino, and reality-star-turned-actress Audrina Patridge ("The Hills"). The recently roasted David Hasselhoff will also be joining them.

During the announcement, Bristol said that she hoped her mom Sarah Palin would make an appearance in the audience to cheer her on from the sidelines, which would be sure to bring even more attention and higher ratings to the already dominant show.

As with every season, the cast includes your average mix of reality stars (Patridge, Sorrentino), former athletes (Rick Fox, Kurt Warner), tabloid fixtures (Palin), singers (Brandy, Michael Bolton), has-been actors (Jennifer Grey), token older contestant (Florence Henderson, 76), token younger contestant for the Disney-tween set (Kyle Massey, 19), and those that might stick around longer than they should for providing some comedic fodder (Margaret Cho, Hasselhoff). 

Season 11 of "Dancing with the Stars" returns Sept. 20 on ABC at 8pm ET/ 7pm here in the Chicago-area.
