Half the fun of watching “Dancing With the Stars” is trying to guess if any of the dance pros and celebrities start hooking up off-camera. There is a long history of that very thing happening, and this season seemed ripe with possibilities. There has been plenty of buzz, but so far nothing has taken hold. Tuesday a new “Dancing With the Stars” romance rumor started building, but it's too soon to know if it's for real or just idle chatter.
Early on, some “Dancing With the Stars” fans wondered if Mark Ballas and his partner Katherine Jenkins might find romance. Others contemplated a romantic pairing between Kym Johnson and Jaleel White. Of course there is plenty of sizzle between William Levy and Cheryl Burke, and don't forget Derek Hough and Maria Menounos. However, none of those on-screen pairings has translated to off-screen hook-ups, as far as anybody can tell. Mark is dating Tiffany Dunn, William Levy is with someone, and Maria Menounos has been with her boyfriend for years. While some wondered about Kym and Jaleel, recent reports of tension make most figure that is not happening either.
However, it is starting to look as if there is a cross-couple romance developing. Could Derek Hough and Katherine Jenkins be flirting with a romance? RumorFix is listing this one as “Still a Rumor,” and Derek Hough is notoriously private about his dating life. Of course this wouldn't be his first DWTS romance, as he dated former partner Shannon Elizabeth for quite some time after they were on the show, and their romance started as they danced together.
So far Derek's rep simply says “no comment” about this one. RumorFix noted Tuesday that the two seemed cozy at lunch over the weekend and the site does have a picture of the two looking, some would say, flirtatious with one another. DWTS fans know that Mark and Derek are very good friends off-screen, and it doesn't seem at all implausible that Derek and Katherine would have plenty of opportunity to connect as a result. Of course neither star is saying boo on their Twitter pages at this point.
