Dancing with the Stars recap: The Situation bombs, Bristol Palin heats things up

Dancing with the Stars Season 11 kicked off tonight with Jersey Shore's 'The Situation' stuck in the 80's with his dance moves, Bristol Palin heating things up in a not so conservative red dress and Disney Channel's Kyle Massey stealing the show with boundless energy.

Jennifer Grey and her partner Derek Hough took top honors tonight and were the top scorers after an emotional dance for Grey. She danced in memory of Patrick Swayze, her dancer partner in the 1987 movie, Dirty Dancing. Swayze died of pancreatic cancer in 2009.

Reality show "The Hills" actress Audrina Partridge was first on the floor Monday night with partner, Tony Dovolani. A step up from his partner last year (Kate Gosselin), Partridge seems to have focus when it comes to learning from the talented Tony.

Disney Channel's Kyle Massey is just 19-years-old and he is on fire on the dance floor. He's entertaining, fun to watch and seems to have some serious determination to make his performances great.

Florence Henderson put on a great show, as expected, with her partner Corky Ballas. She's 76 and had no problem tripping the light fantastic. She's a spicy number -- definitely not channeling Carol Brady.

Bristol Palin. What can can be said other than she might need a few shots of Tequila before she dances. She did heat things up when she ripped off her matronly (Sarah Palin) suit and revealed a skimpy red dress beneath, but a hot dress only get you so far when you look like a deer in the headlights. Lighten up, Bristol, because you have a tremendous dance parter in Mark Ballas.

Rick Fox was delicious on the dance floor. The former NBA player may not be a star dancer, but his smile lit up the stage. If you're 6'7" tall dancing with tiny Cheryl Burke, it's a little hard to be graceful, but Fox has tremendous charisma and that worked for them. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba really needs to stop drooling. It's OK to look, but she's a gawker.

Kurt Warner, a retired NFL quarterback, stole the show with his smile (what's with the sports dudes and their great teeth?) and did some fairly decent dancing for big guy. What stole the show more? He left the dance floor to kiss his wife before heading to see the judges.

Comedian Margaret Cho did a her own version of a waltz, wrapping herself up in her gold wings --or whatever that get-up was. She's funny and her story of being the 'biggest ballerina' during her youth was touching. Her dancing? We shall see.

R&B singer-songwriter Brandy was great on the dance floor. She has an outstanding partner, Maksim Chmerkovskly, and showed some wonderful potential Monday night.

Michael Bolton, who stated that he is in the midst of a big tour right now, needs to get back on the tour bus. He wasn't a terrible dancer but he's boring from face to foot. Stick with singing, Michael.

David Hasselhoff should stay just for the sheer entertainment. He has that lost in space look going on and is in a serious time warp with his hair. However, he IS 'The Hoff' and we must applaud the fact that he still thinks he's a mega star. Great entertainment.

Tuesday night will reveal this season's first elimination on DWTS with three couples at the bottom of the judges list when it comes to points. Comedian Margaret Cho, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino and David "The Hoff" Hasselhoff tied for last place with 15 points on the season premiere of Dancing with the Stars Season 11.

Tuesday night's first Dancing with the Stars elimination show starts at 8pm ET on ABC.
