'Dancing With the Stars' recap: Nicole Scherzinger gets a ten -- act surprised

Nicole: nearing perfection.

This week on "Dancing With the Stars," the theme of the show was conflict. People loved to fight, argue, and complain at one another -- and it gave us plenty of good rehearsal footage.

Thankfully, a few people also delivered the good on the dance floor.

Shannen Doherty: The "90210" star gave a so-so performance in the first week, but then she had a ballroom meltdown of sorts (the first of many for the night) as Mark Ballas pushed her to do some difficult steps. Of course, the end result was a performance that felt too ambitious and was a bit clumsy. Out of some of the "better" dancers in the competition, Shannen may be one of the competitors in danger this week, mainly since I'm not sure how big of a voting block she has out there.

Aiden Turner: You can always count on a soap star to make things dramatic! Aiden Turner (who I've been referring to as "Aiden Davis" for the past week or so -- which is strange since Aiden Davis was a kid contestant on "Britain's Got Talent"). I actually thought Aiden was too hard on Edyta in the past week -- but the couple still ended up delivering a foxtrot that was actually believable. It wasn't perfect, but it was at least worth watching.

On another note, we just learned that John Stamos will be showing up Tuesday night! He was almost on this season to begin with.

Evan Lysacek: Evan paid a visit to his hometown this past week, which was supposed to help with his chemistry with Anna Trebunskaya. I don't know if that was it, but the dance still ended up being very good. The Olympian emerged as a favorite among the men, and he also has going for him the strong track record that athletes have on this show.

Niecy Nash: I was surprised by how good Niecy actually was in the first week, but maybe that was simply because the cha-cha suited her. This dance didn't necessarily have the complicated steps of some of the others, but it had the entertainment factor. All the credit here has to go with Louie Van Amstel, since he proved both this season and last that he can take unexpected dancers and turn them into stars.

Jake Pavelka: Did "The Bachelor" just try to order Chelsie Hightower around. Oh, snap! The actual jive was one of those performances that tried really hard to be great but ended up only being so-so. The problem was just that it was a little out-of-control. I'm also not sure the guy has much of an audience -- he already has love, and he doesn't have the buzz Melissa Rycroft had anymore.

Buzz Aldrin: The funny thing about Buzz is that he managed to be extremely positive this week while just about everyone else was fighting -- and he was at the bottom of the leaderboard last week! "Fly Me to the Moon" was easily the most obvious song choice of all time, and the song was really the best part of the performance. "Charming" was the best word Tom could come up with for the dance, and Carrie Ann tried to instead compliment his tie.

Nicole Scherzinger: I really didn't like Nicole complaining about producers giving the team a modern song, so maybe that taints whatever sort of opinion I have now. We all know she is a talented dancer, but hearing people complain about being on a show is strange. Derek has a great personality -- but Nicole is going to have to battle being a favorite.

Pam Anderson: All right, so Pam is actually the biggest surprise of the season to this point. Nobody thought she was going to be as talented as she is out there, and really now it's all going to come down to if she has a big enough fan base to carry her far. Right now, it wouldn't be a bad idea to bet on seeing Pam in the final three.

Chad Ochocinco: Chad spent a lot of time talking before his foxtrot, but then the actual dance fell tragically flat. It's going to take a ton of work by this guy to get him over the top, but if he does he has the personality to make it happen without a doubt.

Kate Gosselin: They waited to show Kate until the very end, probably just so that we could see her fight with Dovolani to the point that the pro wanted to quit. It didn't happen (of course), and Kate's jive was still somewhat of an unholy mess.

Who do you want to go home on "Dancing With the Stars" this week? Considering that Buzz and Kate have fairly strong fan bases, I'm thinking we will see a contest between Aiden and two surprises -- Jake and Shannen.

I think Kate has to go. Buzz at 80 years of age put on a performance that was equivalent to some of the much younger ones.

Kate maybe the most immature, "victim" personality I have ever seen. Now we know what drove John over the edge. She needs to go quickly. I have no idea why the judges scored her higher than Buzz, as bad as he was, she was worse. As for Nicole Scherzinger, call her a plant, a ringer, whatever. Obviously has done major dance training. Might as well bring in professional dancers to compete.

I have to agree that Kate should go, but, I doubt she will. She was horrible with her dancing and her attitude. That woman cannot have fun, no matter what they do with her. And, she isn't nice. I hope they put Nadya Suleman on next year. She can probably dance better.

Pam was great! I was really surprised by how good she is. She got my vote. Can't wait until next week to see Pam again.
