Despite descent scores, Hope had a rough night on Monday. The judges were happy with her Paso Doble and Argentine Tango but weren’t overly thrilled, as they had been with some of the other dancers’ performances. They felt she lacked artistry and finesse; a great goalkeeper she is, but she doesn’t exactly have rhythm coming out her feet. Her performances were awkward, especially her Argentine Tango; the judges were impressed by her difficult lifts, but it was painful to watch her be so aggressive. I think we all had a lot of hope for Hope Solo in the beginning, but she didn’t pan out as a dancer; although, we can’t deny she had some stunning and gracious moments.
And with Hope out of the picture, it’s down to three: Ricki Lake, Rob Kardashian and J.R. Martinez. Next Monday the three and their professional dance partners will perform a redemption dance, a favorite dance of the season and the freestyle dance. They say the freestyle determines it all – if you bomb, you won’t be taking home the Mirror Ball trophy. I think Ricki is going to shine in the freestyle, as she looks fabulous on the dance floor and always seems up for anything. I worry J.R. will struggle, but not because he can’t handle the dance but because there are three dances next week and he is working on an injured ankle. And as for Rob, I have no idea where things will end for Rob. He’s been the biggest surprise of the season, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he shocked us all with a win next Tuesday.
