Monday night there were some big performances on "Dancing With the Stars," along with some big emotions. Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Derek Hough, Val Chmerkovskiy and the others all had some strong opinions about Abby Lee Miller from "Dance Moms" being a guest judge. Things got a little heated during the show, and it seems it carried over after the fact. ABC 27 chatted with the couples after Monday's show, and “DWTS” fans won't want to miss this one.
"Dancing With the Stars" fans were prepared for Abby Lee Miller to butt heads with Derek and perhaps Mark, given some criticism they had shared over her teaching style a couple of years ago. However, that's not exactly how things played out. Miller had some serious critique for Meryl Davis, Maksim Chmerkovskiy's partner, and he didn't care for it at all.
After Monday's “DWTS” show, Miller and some of the pros were asked about the contentious comments. Miller tore into Chmerkovskiy, saying he had been disrespectful to her as one of his elders and she felt that he wouldn't talk to his grandmother like that. The show's fans likely will scoff at comments, as it seems she can dish it out but perhaps can't take it in return. Miller was also seemingly happy to retweet a few posts on Twitter that praised her guest judging, even if the "DWTS 2014" fans weren't all that impressed.
When the pros were asked about how things went with Abby Lee Miller, Maks kept it short by saying they all have their opinions and he certainly has his. His brother Val Chmerkovskiy noted that he doesn't condone her style of teaching dance. He added that he doesn't see the need to be very respectful of someone he doesn't necessarily like much.
What did Derek Hough think? Miller praised him after his performance with Amy, but Derek made it clear that he loved what Maksim had to say after his performance with Meryl. It seems that reaction of Derek's was only the tip of the iceberg. When asked by ABC 27 after the show about Miller, Derek didn't hold back even a bit. He said that in his opinion nobody credible in the dance industry supports the way she teaches or wants her involved in the genre.
There were numerous "Dancing With the Stars" fans who were unhappy to see the "Dance Moms" star there as a guest judge this week. Chances are that producers loved the idea because they knew they would get some drama and they did indeed. Ultimately what fans hopefully will focus on is the fact that there were some inspirational and moving dances, and there is more ahead as the finale looms.
It is now down to the final five couples this season. Many are betting that Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Meryl Davis along with Charlie White and Sharna Burgess will be in the finale. Can Amy Purdy and Derek Hough snag the third spot? Others are banking on James Maslow and Peter Murgatroyd, though nobody should count out Mark Ballas and Candace Cameron Bure yet either. Tune in to "Dancing With the Stars" Monday nights on ABC to see who makes it to the finale and ultimately wins the mirror-ball trophy.
