It was a romance begun on the dance floor as professional dancers and show competitors Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd fell in love before viewers’ very eyes. Now it is just another “Dancing with the Stars” romance that has crumbled according to a Feb. 15 report on Wetpaint.
The romance began 10 months ago but according to US Weekly and other outlets, the couple has split up. The break up occurred two weeks before Valentine’s Day.
A source told the magazine Maks simply “wasn’t feeling her anymore.” That is apparently not the way Peta felt. This could make for an awkward season 16 on DWTS which kicks off on March 16.
This is not the first time Maks has been involved with a fellow dancer form “Dancing with the Stars.” In 2009, there was a very bitter break up between him and then fiancée Karina Smirnoff who also still competes on the show. In an interview with the New York Post in 2011, Maks was quoted as saying “I will never speak to that person again. And I never have. It has been years now. But I am not bitter.”
Hopefully Maks and Peta have ended things on better terms otherwise the next season of DWTS could be a bit bumpy backstage – we know they would never bring their differences to the dance floor!
