On the heels of the announcement of Maks Chmerkovskiy’s departure formt he show comes the announcement that fan fave Derek Hough will be returning for season 16 of Dancing with the Stars. The announcement made via Twitter was reported on Feb. 22 by Extra TV.
The three-time show champion had left fans wondering with vague remarks regarding his status with the show since the end of of season 15’s All Star run. Derek is in high demand and his talents have afforded many opportunities. With many of the professional dancers talkinga bout pursuing other opportunities, it seemed only natural Derek might do the same.
Hough also suffered a recurring injury during season 15 which he told fans would require surgery to correct. The expectation that he might not be with the show for season 16 has been dangling in the atmosphere for some time.
However, “Dancing with the Stars” fans who follow the young dancer on the social media network Twitter learned that Derek would indeed be stepping into his dance shoes and returning to the ballroom for the upcoming season. Here’s what he tweeted:
“Just got the call. Wasn’t sure if I was able to do this season because of my other projects. But worked it out so I can do both. #pumped.”
Watch for the season 16 cast announcement for “DWTS” on Feb. 26. The new season begins on March 18 on ABC at 7 p.m.
