"Dancing With the Stars" pro Derek Hough has landed a recurring role on ABC's "Nashville" in Season 3, Deadline first reported on Thursday (Aug. 14). This will mark the five-time "DWTS" winner's first major acting role.

Hough, 29, will appear in multiple episodes as Noah West, a 20-something movie star who visits the Nashville music scene for the first time after landing the lead role in a biopic about a country singer. His episode is slated to air in October. "So excited for @derekhough from @DancingABC to be joining out fantastic cast!" the "Nashville" writers tweeted Thursday. "Get pumped, #Nashies!! #ABClove."

The dancer, who also has training and experience as a singer, will be pulling double duty on the network this fall while returning to "Dancing With the Stars" for Season 19. He took home an Emmy for his choreography work on "DWTS" earlier year. One of his previous partners on the show, "American Idol" alum Kellie Pickler, has also appeared on the ABC drama.

"Nashville" also added Alexa Vega ("Spy Kids") and Brette Taylor ("Rescue Me") to the Season 3 cast earlier this week, UPI reports. Vega will recur as single mother Kiley, the first love and high school sweetheart of kind-hearted musician Gunnar (Sam Palladio), who moves to Nashville with her 10-year-old son. Taylor will also appear in multiple episodes as the new backup singer for country star Luke Wheeler (Will Chase), who becomes a muse for Deacon Claybourne (Charles Esten).

The series follows the relationship between legendary singer Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton) and rising star Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere). "Nashville" co-stars Clare Bowen as Scarlett O'Connor, Eric Close as Teddy Conrad, Chaley Rose as Zoey and Jonathan Jackson as Avery Barkley.

Hough's previous acting credits include a guest spot on the short-lived ABC comedy "Better With You" and the dance film "Make Your Move." He follows in the footsteps of his sister Julianne Hough who went from "Dancing" champ to acting in such films as "Footloose," "Rock of Ages" and "Safe Haven."

"Nashville" returns for Season 3 on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 10/9 p.m. CT. "Dancing With the Stars" Season 19 premieres Monday, Sept. 13 at 8/7 p.m. CT on ABC.
