To keep the hips shaking, Mya has to keep the hips from hurting. The star said her dancing couldn't go on this week without feeling pain.
"I've performed all my life but nothing compares to the toll that [Dancing with the Stars] is taking on my body," says Mya. "There are so many aches and pains but nothing is going to slow me down."
Fellow Dancing with the Stars competitor Joanna Krupa feels it too - The former model has been popping three Advil a day to stay in her dancing shoes despite the aches.
Even Kelly Osbourne was sent to the hospital last week with a hurt ankle after being slashed by her own shoe buckle.
"I can't do it without pain," Mya said during rehearsals before breaking for some pain-relieving massage.
TLC is what a dancer needs and even pop queen Madonna can attest to that.
“My ankles get taped before the shows, and I have treatments and physical therapists. It’s from years and years of abuse, dancing in high heels, which is not great on your knees,” Madonna said in a recent interview.
“All dancers have injuries, but we just deal with them. We get acupuncture and therapy, and just keep going."
Post-massage, Mya said she felt like a new woman and pre-dance her game plan was to "float like a jitter bug and sting like a bee."
"This competition is like a sport," says Mya's partner Dmitry Chaplin. "You have to take care of your body every second of the day."
The DWTS' Mya and her partner took on the jitterbug in tonight's competition not leaving much room for anyone else to scale past them, but there was some. With two of the three judges giving steep critiques, the duo claimed a point score of 24 but plans, regardless of anything, to keep scooting forward.
"Massages...and lots of rest," said Mya post-dance.
