Word on the street is that Erin Andrews, the Fox Sports reporter and former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant has been named as the new co-host of the dance competition show. According to The Big Lead on Feb. 22, Andrews will replace co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet as Tom Bergeron’s co-host for season 18 of “Dancing with the Stars.”

ABC is expected to confirm the announcement on Monday and has, as yet to say anything about Andrews. The network fired Burke-Charvet on Friday after seven years in the co-host spot.

The move makes sense in that Andrews has experience interviewing celebrities, particularly athletes. Plenty of athletes end up competing on the show, too. With her own personal experience as a contestant – Andrews competed with professional partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy in season 10. Brooke often stumbled over her questions and had trouble asking intelligent questions during her interview segments. Hopefully Andrews does a better job.

Andrews makes the fourth co-host, following Burke, Samantha Harris and Lisa Canning. She will continue her reporting duties for Fox Sports as well.

“Dancing with the Stars” season 18 premieres Monday, March 17. Watch for more news and updates as they become available.
