‘Dancing with the Stars’ Danica McKellar breaks rib in rehearsal; can she dance?

There is a possibility that another season 18 contestant will be forced to leave the ballroom early because of an injury. On Friday, fan favorite Danica McKellar tweeted news that she’d broken a rib during rehearsal that day. The news was picked up by the media and E! Online shared it on April 25, too. If she is unable to compete, she will be the second celebrity to drop out because of medical reasons, following Billy Dee Williams’ departure in week 2 of this season.

She and partner Val Chmerkovskiy had been working on their performance for Monday night’s “Latin Night” competition when the injury occurs. Val also tweeted about the injury, saying, "Very very tough week #very."

McKellar has been consistently among the top performers since week one. She and Chmerkovskiy nearly earned a perfect 40 for their “Disney Night” performance and last week earned 36 out of 40 for their “Party Anthem Night” routine. She wound up in the bottom three last week alongside child actress and good-natured frenemy Candace Cameron Bure, and Drew Carey. Carey was ultimately eliminated.

“The Wonder Years” actress continued updating her status throughout the weekend. On Saturday, she appeared at the USA Science Festival and tweeted that her rib brace wasn’t visible in some wide angle photos.

Whether or not she will be able to compete on Monday night remains to be seen. Her partner is optimistic and tweeted his own opinion of the situation on Saturday night, saying “1 broken rib 2 dances to prep 3 missed days of rehearsals Seeing @danicamckellar persevere PRICELESS!!! 🙏 #staytuned #dwts.”

Monday night’s is week 7 of season 18. Ricky Martin will be performing and appearing as a guest judge. We will have to wait and see if Danica Kellar’s broken rib keeps her out of the competition or affects her performance.

Dancing with the Stars” airs on Mondays on ABC at 7 p.m. One couple will be voted off unless McKellar is forced to drop out.
