Along with ABC’s season 16 cast announcement of “Dancing With the Stars” came lots of speculation about the choice of celebrity dancers who would be competing. Many wondered why the network stooped so low as to recruit some of the nobodies or has-beens, and why others were approached to dance but opted not to. After the interview with D. L. Hughley shared by Access Hollywood on March 6, it gets even better.
D. L. Hughley has never even watched the show.
I’d never watched the show because I can’t dance, so… why [would I]?
Why would he, indeed. Further, if he had no interest in watching DWTS, what sense does it make to want to be a part of it? Why would someone hitch their wagon to one of the hottest shows on TV today if he doesn’t even know what it’s all about? Does he have even an inkling as to what he’s in for in the coming weeks? No doubt the actor/comedian was told by his agent that a gig on the show is great publicity that could seriously boost his overall popularity, so did he sign on out of career desperation?
Any grown man that knows how to dance has too much time on his hands. You don’t know any grown man that knows every dance that doesn’t live with his mother. You know what I mean?
I wonder how the rest of the dancers, celebrity and professionals alike, feel about that statement. Since he’s agreed to do the show, does that mean Hughley has too much time on his hands? My money is on him to be one of the first to be eliminated, so once booted off, no doubt he will.
