Viewers weren’t the only ones that were shocked by the firing of Brooke Burke-Charvet. Female judge Carrie Ann Inaba was also floored when ABC announced on Monday that the “Dancing with the Stars” co-host would not be returning for season 18. E! News posted her reaction on Feb. 27, and also what she thought of new co-host, Erin Andrews, taking Burke-Charvet’s place in the ballroom.
Inaba seems to have developed a friendship with Burke-Charvet over the past few seasons and the judge said that she had texted her friend right away to make sure she was okay after she got wind of the disheartening news.
"We all know this kind of stuff happens in our business and we all have to be prepared and nothing's forever and you have to be willing to change, but it was shocking," Inaba told E! News. "I'm not going to lie—I was shocked and saddened."
The former “DWTS” co-host was not exactly happy with her firing either as Burke-Charvet revealed that she was shocked at the news. However, the 42-year-old television personality did say that she will be okay to move on and see what other things are waiting for her in the future.
It will be interesting to see how Erin Andrews will do as a replacement for her on the show. ABC is looking to find a younger, and possibly more of a male audience, and thinks that maybe the Fox sportscaster will be just the thing to bring them in. The 35-year-old admits that she has some big shoes to fill when she steps into her new job next month.
How does Carrie Ann Inaba feel about Andrews coming on the show? She said that it might change the show’s vibe a bit.
"I think that when she's asking questions she's going to push some buttons a little bit," she said. "I'm curious to see how that'll work."
Do you share the judge’s sentiments on both Brooke Burke-Charvet and Erin Anrews?
“Dancing with the Stars” premieres on March 17 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
