'Dancing with the Stars' and Candace: Christianity is not taking a back seat

‘Dancing with the Stars,’ Candace Cameron Bure, best known as D.J. Tanner, on the TV sitcom ‘Full House,’ has recently stated in a March 26, report in The Christian Post, “My Christianity is not going to take a back seat on sexy ‘Dancing With the Stars.’

Bure, a devout Christian, said that being true to her beliefs is what’s most important to her, and that one of her dilemmas was figuring out how to participate on a show known for its, “sexy costumes and sultry moves and yet stay true to her faith.”

During the pre-taped rehearsal, Bure spoke about her values and Christian faith, and received huge support from the audience when “the entire crowd in the ballroom cheered and clapped really loudly,” an onlooker reported to Us Weekly.

This week’s dance the rumba, proved to be a challenge, and so was convincing her dance partner, Mark Ballas, to keep his shirt on. Bure explained, “I am a Christian, my life revolves around my relationship with Jesus Christ, so with the overall tone of the dance, the costumes, I’m not going to take a backseat, my voice will definitely be heard.”

Bure continued, “The rumba is not a sexual dance. It’s a sensual, emotional dance. Sensual is more sexy than raunchy sex so I think this is going to be a beautiful dance. I want to look good and feel beautiful but I will probably stay on the more modest end of costuming.”

While waiting for the judges’ scores, co-host, Erin Andrews asked Bure about her previous remarks on how she balances her religious beliefs, with a sexy dance on a sexy show. Bure replied, “I’ve been married 18 years. I am a sexual woman. I want to reserve some things for my husband so I think we did the best that we could with the rumba that I still felt comfortable doing.”

Bure did not score as high this week, earning a 21, as she did in Week One where she earned a 25. The judges’ reaction on her modified, toned down rumba? She was criticized “for not being a true representation of the dance style,” but the fourth unseen judge, Jesus, just gave her a “l0.”
