It was Hollywood night on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" and the remaining 11 celebrity contestants took the floor to dance for a score from the judges which would be added with last weeks viewer vote to determine who would next be eliminated. The results were as expected. Bill Nye the Science Guy was voted off September 30, 2013.
Bill Nye suffered a serious injury when he tripped and fell during last weeks "Dancing with the Stars" performance. The doctor diagnosed Nye's injury as an 80% tear to the quadriceps tendon and strongly advised no more dancing because added stress to the torn tendon could cause further damage. Surgery would then be required to repair the tendon.

Giving up on "Dancing with the Stars" was not an option for Bill Nye, "People don't regret what they do, they regret what they don't do."
Bill Nye went to extreme measures to perform tonight on "Dancing with the Stars". Platelets were separated from his blood and injected directly into the tendon to speed healing. Nye donned a "leg immobilizer" to keep from bending his knee and causing further injury and finally pro partner, Tyne Stecklein choreographed tonight's routine around Nye's "peg leg" status.
Sadly, the choreography was the only thing amazing about Bill Nye's Jazz. While the judges were not impressed with Nye's performance they did praise him for his guts, determination and bravery. But this is a dance competition and the "DWTS" judges scored it accordingly giving Nye a total of 16 out of a possible 30 points.
Tonight's "Dancing with the Stars" performance score from the judges was added with last weeks viewer vote and Bill Nye had the lowest combined score so he and partner, Tyne Stecklein were eliminated from the competition.

"There are people here working so hard and they're so good. I can't compete with that. But what I really feel bad about is Tyne...", Nye went on to thank his followers, "Thank you all very much. Thank you for keeping me in this for this long."
