A Sept. 3 report from CNN.com breaks down a lot of the rumors about who will be included in the upcoming cast. Valerie Harper seems to be one name that has all-but-been confirmed for her appearance as part of the lineup. She's been supposedly practicing her moves with pro dancer Tristan McManus already. Actresses Leah Remini ("King of Queens") and Elizabeth Berkley ("Saved by the Bell") are also rumored to be on the show, as is a "yogurt spokesperson" - many believe that will be former "Full House" star John Stamos.
Reality TV stars Farrah Abraham ("Teen Mom") and Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi ("Jersey Shore"), as well as former NFL star Keyshawn Johnson and singer Christian Millian are also names that have been tossed out as part of the rumor mill for DWTS season 17. As of this report, none of the aforementioned celebrity names have actually been confirmed for the upcoming show.
The anticipation among fans, the cast, and the others behind the hit show has certainly been building over the past several weeks and in recent days. Co-hosts of the show, Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke-Charvet, have both tweeted about the upcoming announcement. Brooke just recently tweeted:
"Packing 4 NYC. See u bright n early on GMA 4 our live announcement of #DWTS cast. Amaaaaaazing line up!"
Bergeron also sent out a message to fans to let them know:
"Slept in this morning. Up early tomorrow. The new @DancingABC cast and I give it our bleary-eyed best live from Times Square Wed. on @GMA!"
The official DWTS season 17 cast announcement will be made during "GMA" on Thursday, Sept. 4 starting at 7 a.m. EST. The cast reveal will also feature the various celebrities and pro dancers answering audience questions, as well as a "special twist" revealed. Viewers in the Roanoke area can watch the show live on ABC via Cox Cable or DISH Network channel 13 for local affiliate station WSET. "GMA" has a live online video feed at 9 a.m. EST which may feature more insight into the cast.
Once the 12 dancers and their 12 celebrity partners are known, it's time for the competition to get going! The "Dancing With the Stars" season premiere is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. EST, also on WSET 13 for ABC.
