"Dancing with the Stars" 2013 premieres March 18 with an all-new cast of celebrity hoofers, including longtime "General Hospital" star Ingo Rademacher. In a March 8 article by xfinityTV, the handsome Aussie actor dished on the big decision to accept the hit reality show's invitation to compete during season 16.
According to Rademacher, who currently enjoys a "cruise-y" life in Hawaii with his wife and two sons, when "DWTS" producers came calling, he responded with an impulsive yes because he "wasn't really doing anything" at the time. He didn't give the decision much thought because he knew he'd think of reasons to bow out. Show insiders were no doubt thrilled to score him for the cast, given that he'd declined previous offers to take part because he was "too scared."
Rademacher will dance for the Mirrorball trophy on the arm of fellow Aussie Kym Johnson, a two-time pro champion. According to a tweet by Rademacher, the pair flew to Hawaii on March 9, where they'll visit with the soap star's family and rehearse their week one Contemporary routine. Per Johnson, her new partner is "doing so well" just a week and change before the season premiere.
Rademacher joins a short list of soap stars to appear on "DWTS," including Kelly Monaco, who won season one and finished third at the close of the 2012 All-Star season; season five's Cameron Mathison; season seven's Susan Lucci; and season 10's Aiden Turner.
"Dancing with the Stars" 2013 performance shows air Monday nights on ABC, beginning March 18.
