Most people know about "Dancing with the Stars" that will air on ABC on March 17. But before the “Dancing with the Stars” returns to ABC for its 18th season, a group of Richmond personalities is also dancing for a good cause.

Juan Conde, newscaster for ABC-8 News, announced on March 12 that ten local volunteers including himself will dance to benefit the Virginia Treatment Center for Children at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU during the Fourth Annual "Dancing with the Richmond Stars" on Friday, March 14,

On the real “Dancing with the Stars,” celebrities dance for money. In the Richmond version, the personalities dance for charity.

The ten local personalities have each been paired with a pro from Rigby’s Jig Dance Studio in Henrico County.

Eleanor Robertson, owner of Rigby's Jig and her professional dancers donate their time. She said:

“We are charged with putting together the instructors to dance with all the stars for the event, provide rehearsal space, and help them put together their routines for this wonderful evening."

In the last three years, the event raised close to $300,000, and they expect to do the same this year.

Conde and his dancing partner, Sarah Warnick, have been rehearsing for Friday’s performance to “Mi Confesion” since January.

"Dancing with the Richmond Stars" begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 14 at the VCU W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts, located at 922 Park Avenue, Richmond, VA 23284.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the performance and gala celebration are $100 each.
