What exactly is “Dancing in the Sheets?” “Dancing in the Sheets” is a euphemism for having sex. It’s also a series here on Examiner.
“Music hath charms to sooth the savage breast”. It also often has charms to make ladies bare them. Your crusty chronicler, of course, being the shy, innocent white boy he is, would never think of suggesting creating a sexual seduction soundtrack.
Still, the sounds that turn us on was an interesting idea for a fun-filled filler article. L.A. based musicians, East Coast artists and many music fans were polled about tunes that turn them on, songs they heard when they made love and music they listen to while they are “boffing”. The response was so great the one shot article has become a series.
The title itself- “Dancing in the Sheets”-was inspired by my Facebook friend Steve Delp who used the phrase when explaining the concept to another online acquaintance. Here is the latest list of responses:
Reuben Vigil of Big Shot Reub and the Reloaders said one of his picks is Marvin Gaye’s 1976 slow jam “After The Dance”. This song has been covered by a lot of jazz singers and also by groups such as Fourplay.
USPS person Kim Hunt said: “My favorite song for that romantic time is Led Zeppelin’s (1971 hit) ‘Stairway to Heaven’. It feels like the music is rising and falling like the peaks and valleys during love making.” (What? No “Signed, Sealed, Delivered”?)
Former Taft High tootsie Tina Miller suggested “’More Love’ (from 1967) by Smokey Robinson. (It’s) my all time favorite love song. (It’s) good for dancing in the sheets". (Really? Well, have to check that out some time . . .)
One anonymous contributor here in California suggested the golden oldie “Put Your Head on My Shoulder” noting that this was a favorite song of his parents when they were younger and it still worked with women today. This one goes back to 1959 and was by Paul Anka.
“How about Rod Stewart's (1977 hit) ‘Hot Legs’?” asks “swexy” Kittie from Pismo Beach. (Yeah, hot legs and manicured toes do add something to a lady’s overall appearance!)
