Every metro area of a certain size deserves to have a kitschy, distinctive and laid-back coffeehouse such as Dancing Dogs, and Idaho Falls can count itself among one of those lucky cities. The atmosphere is great, the on-site roasted coffee is delicious, and patrons can feel comfortable coming to do schoolwork, meeting a friend for a game of chess, or just relaxing and reading a book. Walking into the building is just like walking into someone’s home, and patrons are welcomed with generous hospitality.
Dancing Dogs is located in a refurbished farmhouse on north Hitt Road (otherwise known as 25th East), near the exit from Highway 20. Due to its out-of-the-way locale, many coffee aficionados in Idaho Falls are unaware that the coffeehouse even exists, but recent efforts by its new owners are hoping to change all that. Efforts such as more marketing and more visibility in terms of a satellite store are being put forth. A second, coffee-hut location at Sunnyside and southern Hitt serves up a “mini-me” Dancing Dogs menu.
Is the (face it, relatively short) drive to the fringes of Idaho Falls to experience the Dancing Dogs Coffeehouse worth it? Definitely. Not only is their coffee fabulous and locally roasted, but their baked goods are incredible in their homemade goodness (try the cinnamon rolls!).
