The Center for the Arts proudly presents the 7th Annual Dancing for the Arts Fundraising Gala. Harford County community leaders will showcase their ballroom dancing talents and compete for top honors to benefit the Center for the Arts on Saturday, November 15, 2014 from 6:30PM – 11:30PM at the Maryland Golf and Country Clubs. The dancing stars, many with no dance experience, are engaging in private dance lessons with the professional dance instructors from Dancing with Friends Dance Studio. The evening will include a live auction, open bar, sumptuous food, the dancing competition and dancing afterwards. Black tie is optional.

New to this year’s event is a Friday night performance with discounted ticket pricing, three high school student dancers to compete, a performance by the Harford Ballet Company and the People’s Choice Award where all guests will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite dancer.

“I am honored to serve beside this distinguished group of dancers…adults…and students…who come together to serve their community and beyond to build a Center for the Arts here in Harford County. Their individual commitment and eagerness to act on their vision is inspiring. They are living proof of Margaret Meade’s famous quote: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has," said Kathy Smith, CEO of Center for the Arts.

“It has been shown that arts education increases academic achievement, school engagement, and creative thinking, however, arts instruction in schools is on a downward trend. With this in mind, having a Center for the Arts in Harford County is becoming increasingly important for the future of future generations. Dancing and fundraising for the Center for the Arts is not only dear to my heart but affects me personally as I have 4 kids and have witnessed the ability of art educators enriching the learning and lives of my children,” Tracy Hart, General Manager of KHZTV, explains as to why she is dancing.

Dancing for the Arts celebrates the talent of Harford County while raising funds to establish a cultural arts center in Harford County, accessible to all, to nurture art, artists and community by providing a broad range of creative and collaborative experiences through quality arts education, presentation and exhibit in the disciplines of music, dance, theater, and the visual, traditional and literary arts.
