The Gully God, Mavado, is out with a new single called ‘Take It’. The single was released back in December, and a video for the song, has just been put out. The music video will premier on Billboard.com and it will be the first time that a Caribbean artist will be featured on this American media entity. The song also features Karian Sang who is signed to Mavado’s label, Mansion Records.
Mavado has been prolific with his music, despite his most recent legal run-ins. Just months ago, the dancehall sing-jay was accused of bribing a State Department official. Despite any of these troubles, Mavado is involved in a music camp of the finest of hip hop talents. Mavado actually rubs shoulders with Nicki Minaj, Ace Hood and DJ Khalid. The latter’s record label is a joint partner with Young Money Cash Money Billionaires.
The single ‘Take It’ came about through the work of Zojak World Wide and Troyton Music. When musicians work with other producers or labels, this is very typical for promotional purposes, so that the artist can keep relevant in the music game. This is basically the equivalent to the mixtape scene in American hip-hop. Over the next couple of months, Mavado will continue to work in the studio; as it is rumored, that an album could be in the works.
DJ Khalid’s label We The Best is backing one of the most anticipated reggae and dancehall album of 2013. Mavado’s single ‘Take It’ is available on I-Tunes for download and the video is currently on Billboard.com.
