On Friday February 14, The Joffrey Ballet performs Contemporary Choreographers at Chicago's Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University on 50 E. Congress Parkway. If inspired to bust a move yourself, the American Rhythm Center is hosting a dance party for couples—and singles—on Friday February 14. The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. when DMX Dance Company’s Dave Maxx teaches a 30-minute Soul Swing dance lesson, followed at 8:00 p.m. by a 30-minute disco lesson by Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre’s Wilfredo Rivera.
In addition to dance instruction, admission ($10 for singles; $16 for couples) includes wine, snacks provided in part by Corner Bakery, and a goodie bag filled with $90 worth of certificates for businesses such as American Rhythm Center, City Winery, Bacchanalia Italian Restaurant, Fernando's/Blue Agave Tequila Bar & Restaurant, Sugar Bliss Cake Boutique, and more. The event takes place at Studio 300 on 410 S. Michigan Avenue.
On Saturday, February 15, American Gothic Productions presents the New Loves & Broken Hearts Valentine's Ball at Metro on 3730 N. Clark Street in Chicago.
