Dance Alliance performs 'Journeys' one night only at the Alliance March 9 (Photos)

Journeys is coming to the Foulds Theatre at the Alliance for the Arts on March 9. It's the latest production by Dance Alliance, the Alliance's resident dance company.

Through Journeys, Dance Alliance explores life’s physical, spiritual and emotional sojourns as its
choreographers share personal stories of healing, friendship and discovery and celebrate the journey they've taken together in their four years as a dance company. The music for the production includes selections of classically inspired to contemporary movements from Recomposed, award-winning British composer Max Richter's homage to Vivaldi's Four Seasons.

Dance Alliance welcomes several guest contributors. Cesar Miguel Rivera, formerly of Mexico’s State Classical Ballet Company and founder of the Joven Ballet, introduces his “Where No One Sees You,” a contemporary piece made magic through innovative lighting design. Dancers will interpret poet Lorraine Walker Williams’ “Healers” and Cypress Lake Middle School’s Ovations Dance Company will perform “Fish Out of Water” by Dance Alliance’s Lydia Frantz.

The ten-member troupe serves as the resident company for the Lee County Alliance for the Arts and is dedicated to dance education, performance and to inspiring younger dancers to maintain dance as an integral part of their lives.

The Alliance for the Arts proudly supports artists and arts organizations in our area as the state designated Local Arts Agency for Lee County. The Alliance for the Arts galleries and gift shop are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1:00 on Saturdays. The Alliance is located at 10091 McGregor Boulevard, just south of Colonial Boulevard. To become a member, please telephone 239-939-2787 or visit http://www.artinlee.org/JoinUs/membership.html.
