"I was on the street the other day, and some guy was like, 'Hey! Sign Holly Holm!'" White recalled. "I was like, 'Yeah, I know. Everybody's telling me.'
White admits he hasn't seen Holm fight, but he says the hype behind her is definitely growing. He even compared her to Conor McGregor as far as hype goes.
"I haven't seen her fight, but I keep hearing about her. She's like the female Conor McGregor."
Much like McGregor, Holm is building a buzz around her as she climbs the regional ranks prior to making the leap into the UFC's world-famous Octagon.
"I thought Conor McGregor was a heavyweight when I kept hearing about him for some reason," White said. "I don't know why I did, but I did. Holly Holm – I don't no what she looks like. I've never seen her fight. But I know who she is."
Holm currently fights under the Texas-based Legacy FC banner, but fight fans have been clamoring for her to step up in competition.
White says he hasn't discussed with UFC matchmakers Sean Shelby and Joe Silva signing Holm. However, it's a good sign for her that everyone keeps telling White to scoop her up.
After all, the fight business is all about signing fighters that fans want to pay to watch. With so many fight fans getting in White's ear to sign her, it seems like just a matter of time before it happens.
"They know who's next," White said. "When it's time for Holly Holm, they'll let me know."
Following a 33-2-3 boxing career that included 20 world title fights, Holm has gone 5-0 in MMA.
