Dana White says Cat Zingano is 'next in line' to fight Ronda Rousey

According to a Feb. 23 report from MMA Junkie, UFC President Dana White insists that Cat Zingano is next in line to fight UFC bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey.

However, he hasn't yet made Zingano vs Rousey official because the Colorado native is still mourning the recent loss of her husband and also recovering from a knee injury.

“The poor girl has been through a lot over the last year,” White said of Zingano. “But I agree with Ronda. She’s next in line.”

Rousey said she was impressed by Alexis Davis' performance against Jessica Eye during the UFC 170 prelims, but she agrees with White that Zingano is next in line for a title shot.

“I think Cat Zingano really deserves to fight for the title at some point, but she’s still coming back from her injury, and I thought Alexis Davis did an amazing job tonight,” Rousey said. “It’s up to the UFC.”

The UFC hasn't yet made if official who Rousey will fight next, but it's likely she'll return sometime over the summer.

“I usually have a hard time staying away from the gym, so I’ll probably get bored within a couple of weeks, and whenever they need me, I’ll fight,” Rousey said at the UFC 170 post-event press conference, which took place at Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Events Center. “It seems late summer seems like a cool time, but I might want to fight sooner than that.”

As for Davis, she remains hopeful that'll still get the call for a title shot.

“Of course I’ll say yes,” Davis said of a potential fight with Rousey. “I’ve been fighting for so long, and who else is 3-0 in the UFC, other than the girl sitting right down from me?

“I want that shot. I’m the quiet girl that sits there, but I’m looking for it.”
