Deadline Hollywood revealed on Wednesday that New Line Cinema has given the directing job to Dan Trachtenberg for the adaptation of the cult comic book series Y The Last Man.
Y The Last Man, a 60-issue comic book series, revolves around Yorick Brown, a young amateur escape artist, who is the only man to survive after an event triggered the simultaneous death of every male mammal on Earth. You would think that Yorick has it made and can choose any girl he wants. Unfortunately, it's not paradise for Yorick as he is trying to reunite with his girlfriend while avoiding various groups with vast interest in his body. The comic book series, written by Brian K. Vaughan and drawn mostly by Pia Guerra, was published in 2002 and garnered five Eisner Awards.
The film adaptation is being produced by Benderspink, David Goyer, Sam Brown, and David Neustadter.
