Dan Toler dies: Guitarist for Allman Brothers Band dead at 65 from ALS disease

Dan Toler dies has become a trending topic on several search engines today after the Huffington Post reported this Tuesday, Feb. 26, that rocker Dan Toler — a former guitarist for the Allman Brothers Band back in the day — passed away this week.

Steve Fayette, a close personal friend of the former guitarist, confirmed yesterday that the Allman Brothers member died in his sleep after a battle with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Rolling Stone reports that Dan Toler first joined the Allman Brothers Band back in 1979. His talent as a guitar player lent itself well to the band’s hit albums in the next years, including “Enlightened Rogues,” “Reach for the Sky,” and “Brother of the Road.”

His two-year battle with Lou Gehrig’s disease was a very tough one for the rocker, as ALS left Toler with an ability to play the guitar anymore or even speak as the months progressed. From his many fans to his close personal friends who have called him a “hero” post the "Dan Toler dies" headline hit the internet this week, the guitarist’s legacy in music will no doubt live on in the years to come.
