Dan Marino has publicly admitted to fathering a love child with Donna Savaterre, a story he had managed to keep under wraps for 7 years. The Orlando Sentinel had the report on Jan. 31, 2013. Dan Marino made a statement to the media:
“This is a personal and private matter,” the statement said. “I take full responsibility both personally and financially for my actions now as I did then. We mutually agreed to keep our arrangement private to protect all parties involved.”
And, about his marriage, he said this:
“My wife and I have been married for almost 30 years and have six children together,” the statement said. “And we continue to be a strong and loving family.”
Unlike most affairs and scandals of this type, Marino has managed to keep his marriage together for seven years while taking responsibility for his mistakes. He has provided financial support and periodically visited the daughter he fathered with Donna Savaterre, his CBS colleague.
Gossip Extra reports that Dan Marino’s wife, Claire, knew about the birth of the child, but they managed to work through the situation. They agreed to keep the affair quiet for the benefit of all parties involved.
Initially, there was a part of the agreement that involved Donna Savaterre moving to Texas to keep the affair and subsequent love child quiet. She is now living in New York and married to Nahill Younis; they have a son together, according to Heavy.com.
