After two years of trying to rebuild the McNairy Central football program, Charlie Dampeer will not get a third year as head coach.

Dampeer was told by new McNairy County Director of schools John Prince that his contact would not be renewed for next year.

Dampeer will finish out the school year teaching at McNairy.

Attempts to contact Dampeer were unsuccessful.

"We felt like the program was not progressing and it was time to make a change and go in a different direction," Prince said.

The search for Dampeer's replacement will begin immediately.

The Bobcats are coming off back to back losing seasons under Dampeer as they were 3-7 last season and Dampeer was 5-15 in his two seasons in Selmer.

The last winning season for McNairy come back in 2008 when the Bobcats went 6-5 and made the Class 3A playoffs.
