Matt Damon is very serious about the global water crisis but he is quite humorous when it comes to getting his point across. The accomplished actor says he is going on strike by not going to the bathroom until the whole situation is worked out. According to a mock press conference posted on YouTube on Feb. 11, the actor proclaims world toilet day and explains how clean water can be achieved for everyone all over the world.
In this viral video, the Oscar winner also announced that until everyone in the world has access to clean water, he will not use the toilet or any other modern convenience in which to get rid of his human waste.
The mini movie may have been made in jest, but the message is very real. As the co-founder of Water.org, Damon tosses out startling facts regarding the fact that usable water in the world is severely limited.
Damon's campaign requests support in the cause to provide clean water to every person on earth. He wants everyone to join in his fight by signing up at his Strike With Me site.
According to the Los Angeles Times, video experts who know all about how the Internet works contend that "Damon's effort is the first major attempt by a nonprofit campaign to venture into a terrain ruled by bloopers, babies and, above all, cute and cuddly cats."
The publication quotes an online expert who believes that what Matt is doing is being done in a pioneering effort that ventures into "a new frontier."
Meanwhile, while Matt Damon enters this new frontier to try to get others to take the global water crisis in a serious way by being funny, he supposedly will not be going to the bathroom. He will not be using any toilet until this situation has been solved and until toilets that can be flushed with fresh water are available to everyone all over the world.
