The premium cable network is searching for their next big dramatic hit for their loyal viewers in hopes of soothing the sting that following the news that the number one vampire thriller "True Blood" would be coming to an end next season.
"The Leftovers" will be an adaptation from the Tom Perrotta best-seller and will take place during the Rapture and will follow the stories of the people who didn't get called up, and their survival in a world that will never be the same.
"The Leftovers" will star Justin Theroux (Jennifer Aniston's fiance). Theroux will play the police chief who's main goal is to attempt to maintain normalcy in a world that is going crazy following the Rapture.
More celebrity names you will recognize is Liv Tyler, who will play Meg. Meg is a young, small town woman about to be married who needs an escape. She becomes a target for recruitment by members of an enigmatic cult.
Amy Brenneman, Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who), Chris Zylka, Margaret Qualley, Carrie Coon, Emily Meade, Amanda Warren, Ann Dowd, Michael Gaston, Max Carver, Charlie Carver, Annie Q, Paterson Joseph and Brad Leland round out the cast.
Lindelof’s recent credits also include feature films “World War Z,” “Prometheus” and “Star Trek Into Darkness,: so it is predicted that "The Leftovers" will become a huge success on HBO.
"The Leftovers" joins dramas" Boardwalk Empire", "Game of Thrones" as well as the final season of "True Blood" at HBO.
