Blues guitarist Damon Fowler comes to Des Moines on Friday, February 22 for a show at Gas Lamp. The show will start at 9 p.m., and there is no opening act scheduled for the evening. Advance tickets may be purchased online through MidwesTix for $10. You must be 21 or older to attend this concert.
Florida native Damon Fowler has been compared to Johnny Winter and Jeff Beck. Fowler got his start at age twelve, and has been wowing audiences since his teen years. Fowler has shared the stage with the likes of Buddy Guy, Jeff Beck, Johnny and Edgar Winter, Gregg Allman, Jimmy Vaughn, Rick Derringer, Little Feat, Delbert McClinton, and numerous others. Derringer was so impressed with Fowler that he produced and played on Fowler's debut album, entitled Riverview Drive, in 1999. Fowler released his most recent album, Devil Got His Way, in 2011. You can check out Fowler performing a song from the album in the nearby video.
Need something to do earlier in the night on Friday? Check out the early show at Gas Lamp. Every Friday, the Bob Pace Band hosts Gas Lamp's Work Release Party. The Work Release Party runs from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. For a $4 cover charge, patrons get three hours of music from Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and Iowa Blues Hall of Famer Bob Pace and his band, as well as free food while it lasts.
