Dallas New Year's weather outlook

See also

It looks like Dallas will round out 2014 with dry conditions. Temperatures should run near the seasonal averages as we move into the weekend after Christmas with lows in the 30s and highs near 60 by Fri-Sat.

Winds become gusty on Saturday just ahead of another cold front coming southward from Canada: this boundary passes Sunday with windy and colder weather returning.

However, we are getting a glancing blow of this large and very cold air mass, so temperatures will cool down for a couple of days followed by a quick return to milder weather.

The high on the first day of 2014 looks to return to the 60-degree range on the heels of southerly winds. Not bad! This caveat: one of the three primary long-range models show rain on Wednesday, but I'm going with two-out-of three for now as the model-to-model consistency has been better with the other two.
